Boone's rifle

It has been said that Daniel Boone's rifle is something of a mythical non-existing piece of history. On a couple of forums, people inquire where can they go to see Boone's actual rifle. Why? Because Americans are fascinated with our nation's Colonial past. As Americans, early Colonial history is our heritage, it belongs to all Americans and Daniel Boone is a part of that history.

I have personally seen a Boone rifle in a Kentucky museum but I wasn't certain of its authenticity. In another forum, a historian thought the Kentucky museum rifle could be a southern mountain poorboy rifle and not Boone's. In any case, I've studied Boone's life for many years and I have found the next best thing to a real life Boone rifle you can get.

Daniel Boone was originally from the colony of Pennsylvania and later moved to North Carolina. This was before the American Revolution. Since Boone was from Pennsylvania, he grew up in an area where the Pennsylvania longrifle was developed and made. So it is logical he would have used Pennsylvania longrifles, although he could have purchased a rifle from a North Carolina gunsmith as well.

Boone's rifle was a working man's gun. It doesn't have any ornate brass mountings or carvings on the stock, its a plain stock with a little maple curl here and there, but still a fine rifle. The rifle I will build for you is of a Pennsylvania longrifle style based on a portrait of Boone and his actual riflegun.

The story goes that the Pennsylvania longrifle was renamed the Kentucky longrifle after Boones exploration of Kentucky. Back in the late 1700s, everyone wanted a Kentucky rifle like the one Daniel Boone carried to Kaintuck. Boone would carve D. Boone on trees where ever he roamed and was known to scratch his name on his powderhorn. Whether he carved his name on his rifle no one can say, but on request I can carve D. Boone on your rifle but it will be stamped replica gun.

I am offering for the first time a replica of Boone's rifle tick licker. When you order a hand made replica Boone rifle, you will recieve a free copy of a picture depicting Daniel posing with his rifle. The rifle you recieve will be a fully functional accurate firing piece, ready to hang over your fireplace or take hunting.

The price of the rifle is $1600 with shipping not included. You may make a deposit of half down and pay the rest when finished. We accept checks and money orders. Please don't send cash. Because of the custom nature of my work, deposits will not be refunded.
